RELEASE – Statement from DOTAX Director on request to subpoena Airbnb records

Posted on Feb 7, 2019 in Latest Department News

“While we are disappointed with the outcome of the hearing today, we owe it to the community to continue to apply the law to those in the vacation rental business to ensure they are paying their fair share of  taxes.  We will be asking the Attorney General to appeal the Judge’s decision today, and we continue to hope that Airbnb and others would voluntarily assist our efforts. In addition, we will be pursuing legislative approval of our bills (HB 1042 and SB 1268) that will give us additional tools to enforce compliance.”
