HDOT NEWS RELEASE: HDOT cancels constructions on H-1 freeway in Aiea and Pearl City Wednesday night

Posted on Aug 5, 2015 in Latest Department News, Newsroom, Office of the Governor Press Releases

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) has canceled work on the Pearl City Viaduct widening project that was scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 5. The decision was made as a precaution due to potential impacts from Tropical Storm Guillermo. Further announcements impacting construction this week will be made on a day-to-day basis should conditions change.

Tonight’s work was scheduled to close two westbound lanes on the H-1 Freeway between the Aiea Heights Drive Overpass and the Pearl City/Waimalu Off-Ramp (Exit 10) from 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for pavement restriping.

For more project information, visit the website at www.pmcontraflow.com or call the project hotline at (808) 945-1144.

Construction on Kamehameha Highway in Kaaawa will proceed tonight as scheduled because the 24/7 lane closure is already in place. Traffic will continue to be contraflowed in the open mauka lane. Motorists are advised to expect delays.

HDOT is also contacting all contractors performing work in its facilities to ensure work sites and equipment are secured and drains are cleared in work zones.
