HONOLULU – Gov. David Ige has ordered all United States and State of Hawai‘i flags be flown at half-staff at state offices, agencies and the Hawai‘i National Guard as a mark of respect for the late former State Rep. Colleen Meyer.

The flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, August 15, 2015.

“Representative Meyer was a dedicated public servant and respected advocate for the residents and businesses of the North Shore Community. I had the honor and privilege of working alongside Representative Meyer during our time together in the Hawai‘i State Legislature and always respected her trailblazing spirit and commitment to making a positive difference for our state. On behalf of the people of Hawai‘i, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Meyer ‘Ohana and their many friends,” said Gov. David Ige.

Born in Honolulu, Colleen Meyer grew up in Mānoa and graduated from Punahou School in 1957. She attended San Mateo College in California and worked as a real estate broker for many years upon her return to the islands. Meyer served on the Kahalu‘u Neighborhood Board before she was elected to the Hawai‘i State House of Representatives, where she served from 1995-2008. Meyer died on July 17, 2015 at her Kāne‘ohe home.
