HI-EMA NEWS RELEASE: Siren Testing on Hawaii Island, March 3
Posted on Mar 1, 2016 in Latest Department NewsHONOLULU — Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA), together with the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency, will conduct siren testing on Hawaii Island on Thursday, March 3, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the following locations:
- Kapoho Vacationland, Puna
- Waa Waa, Puna
- Hawaiian Beaches, Puna
- Hawaiian Paradise Park, Puna
Residents nearby may hear the siren sound six to eight times for 30-second to one-minute intervals during the identified timeframe. Testing will include short blasts known as “burps.” During the tests, emergency management officials and technicians will check that installation work on this siren has been completed properly.
