HDOT NEWS RELEASE: Nighttime H-1 freeway ramp closures for overhead sign replacements on April 26 and April 27

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies Oahu motorists of H-1 Freeway On-Ramp and Off-Ramp closures in both directions on Tuesday night, April 26, 2016 and Wednesday night, April 27, 2016 from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., for overhead sign replacements. During roadwork hours no more than two ramps will be shutdown at a time. See below for closure details:

Tuesday night, April 26
·        Closure of the Waialae Avenue On-Ramp to the westbound H-1 Freeway. Motorist are advised to take the 5TH Avenue On-Ramp as an alternate route.
·        Closure of the H-1 Freeway westbound Likelike Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 20A). Motorists are advised to take the Houghtailing Street Off-Ramp (Exit 20B) as an alternate route.

Wednesday night, April 27
·        Closure of the H-1 Freeway eastbound Vineyard Boulevard Off-Ramp (Exit 20B). Motorists are advised to take the Pali Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 21A) as an alternate route.
·        Closure of the H-1 Freeway westbound Houghtailing Street Off-Ramp (Exit 20B). Motorists are advised to take the Palama Street Off-Ramp (Exit 20C) as an alternate route.
·        Closure of the H-1 Freeway westbound Kapiolani Boulevard Off-Ramp (Exit 25B). Motorists are advised to take the King Street Off-Ramp (Exit 25A) as an alternate route.
·        Closure of the Pali Highway On-Ramp to the eastbound H-1 Freeway. Motorists are advised to stay on the Pali Highway and take Vineyard Boulevard to the eastbound H-1 Freeway On-Ramp as an alternate route.

Electronic message boards have been posted to inform motorists of the upcoming roadwork. Emergency vehicles and TheBus have been notified and will be allowed through the work zone area. Special duty police officers will be on site to assist with ramp closures and escort vehicles.

HDOT advises motorists to plan ahead, use alternate routes and drive with caution while getting to your destinations. Roadwork updates will be distributed on our HDOT website at hidot.hawaii.gov and through our social media websites on Facebook and Twitter.
