DOH NEWS RELEASE: Department of Health practices mass distribution of medications in a (simulated) public health emergency

WHAT: Hawaii State Department of Health and partner agencies conduct a full-scale exercise to test disaster response readiness for situations requiring rapid distribution of medication to the population.
The training scenario includes a simulated activation of the U.S. Strategic National Stockpile of medicine and medical supplies, which is can be requested to supplement state and local resources during a public health emergency severe enough to exhaust local supplies. A Point of Distribution (POD) will be set up and opened to quickly distribute (mock) medicine to pre-registered public participants.
