ATG NEWS RELEASE: Hawaii man pleads no contest to sharing child pornography
Posted on May 26, 2016 in Latest Department NewsHONOLULU – Attorney General Doug Chin announced that David Sisombath pleaded no contest yesterday to six counts of Promoting Child Abuse in the Second Degree and one count of Promoting Child Abuse in the Third Degree.
Sisombath’s arrest, charging, and plea were a result of work done by Hawaii’s Internet Crimes Against Children (HICAC) Task Force in the Hawaii Attorney General’s office. A search of six computers and hard drives at Sisombath’s residence uncovered 219 images and 155 videos of child pornography. Forty-four of these files showed children under the age of twelve engaged in sexual conduct.
Attorney General Chin said of Sisombath’s plea: “Child pornography is child abuse. Victims of child pornography are abused when the images are first taken and they are abused again each and every time these horrendous images are viewed. Our department will continue to investigate and prosecute anyone who possesses or disseminates child pornography.”
Promoting Child Abuse in the Second Degree is a class B felony punishable by up to ten years in prison, and Promoting Child Abuse in the Third Degree is a class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Sentencing is set for September 15, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. before circuit judge Shirley M. Kawamura.
