DETAILS:  Col. Stephen E. Dawson will take leadership of U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii (USAG-HI) during a Change of Command ceremony on historic Weyand Field, here, Friday at 10 a.m.

Col. Richard A. Fromm will be relinquishing command after serving as the USAG-HI commander since May 2014.  His next assignment is at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.

Dawson comes to Hawaii from Fort Gordon, Georgia, where he served as Assistant Chief of Staff, G3, for the 7th Signal Command (Theater) from January 2014 through April 2016.

As a career Signal Corps officer, he’s filled numerous command and staff assignments and deployments to Iraq to enhance communications technologies and infrastructure within the Army.

The USAG-HI encompasses 22 Army installations and sites in the state of Hawaii, to include Schofield Barracks, Fort Shafter, Tripler Army Medical Center, Fort DeRussy, Makua Military Reservation, Kahuku Training Area, Wheeler Army Airfield, Pohakuloa Training Area, and military housing areas at Helemano, Aliamanu and Red Hill. As garrison commander, Dawson will be responsible for overseeing support and services to more than 94,000 service members, military families, retirees and civilians.
