DOH NEWS RELEASE: Hawaii Department of Health and Haleiwa Beach House Restaurant reach settlement of wastewater violations
Posted on Jun 8, 2016 in Latest Department NewsHONOLULU – The Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) today reached a settlement agreement with the Haleiwa Beach House restaurant located at 62-540 Kamehameha Highway. Both parties today signed an Administrative Order of Consent (AOC) that allows the restaurant to operate with a seating capacity previously approved in 2012 for the establishment formerly known as Jameson’s restaurant.
“With the signing of the AOC and the completion of a health inspection, the department has determined that the restaurant can safely reopen for business and continue operating with reduced seating that meets their current wastewater system capacity,” said Stuart Yamada, Environmental Management Division Chief. “The department will continue to follow-up with the restaurant to ensure it complies with the order and maintains public health standards.”
Following an on-site inspection of the restaurant seating areas, wastewater system and adjacent property, the department reinstated the establishment’s food service permit granting them approval to reopen for business. The restaurant is allowed to operate with a seating capacity of 83 dining seats and 31 bar chairs. The existing individual wastewater system is expected to accommodate the calculated wastewater discharges anticipated from the revised seating plan.
