Posted on Jun 13, 2016 in Latest Department News

HONOLULU – Honolulu Police confirmed with the Department of Public Safety today that their suspect in the Friday afternoon shooting in Maile is Anthony Pereira.  Pereira worked as an adult corrections officer at OCCC.  He has not reported to work since April 10, 2016.  He has been on leave without pay status since then.

“Our concern is with the grieving family at this time. The Department of Public Safety is conducting an internal administrative investigation and will continue to monitor and assist the Honolulu Police with their criminal investigation into this devastating matter,” said Public Safety Director Nolan Espinda.

Pereira was hired by the Department of Public Safety in August 2002.

He is currently being held at OCCC and will be transferred to Halawa Correctional Facility this afternoon.
