USAG NEWS RELEASE: Wastewater spill at Schofield Barracks

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii (June 13, 2016) – The Army’s Directorate of Public Works (DPW) reported a wastewater spill, here, Sunday.

The spill occurred in the Porter Housing community at approximately 4:30 p.m. and was stopped at approximately 9:20 p.m. Officials completed cleanup and disinfection of the area by 12:40 a.m. The Army notified the Hawaii State Department of Health regarding the spill. No further actions are required at this time.

The spill originated from a residential drain cleanout and a manhole at the intersection of Nakae Avenue and McCornack Road, and flowed into a storm drain inlet leading to nearby ravine. Approximately 4,350 gallons were discharged. The cause of the spill was an unknown blockage in the sewer line.
