Trip to Washington State

HONOLULU – Gov. David Ige is in Washington State for briefings and meetings with Microsoft executives and the president and CEO of Alaska Airlines.

The governor is scheduled to participate in executive briefings at the Microsoft Executive Briefing Center on September 12 and 13. The briefings will cover technology trends in the private sector, improving information workers’ productivity through innovative technologies, innovations in health care, leveraging technology to support teaching and learning and cybercrime. The briefing will also include a tour of Microsoft’s Envisioning Center – which allows visitors to experience how technologies will transform life at work, at home and on the go over the next 5-10 years.

Gov. Ige will also meet with the president and CEO of Alaska Airlines, which carried the third highest number of passengers to Hawai‘i from the U.S. mainland between January and July 2016. The airline also carries the highest number of passengers on direct service from the U.S. Mainland to Hawai‘i’s neighbor island airports.

Accompanying the governor on this trip is Todd Nacapuy, state CIO; Ryan Shimamura, CIO, Department of Human Services; Dwight Bartolome, CIO, Department of Health, David Shak, infrastructure manager, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs; Mark Choi, business architect.

From the Office of the Governor, Director of Executive Services Susan Hirai and Special Assistant Carolyn Fujimoto are also traveling with Gov. Ige. The cost of the trip for Gov. Ige, Hirai and Fujimoto is approximately $5,894.28.
