ATG NEWS RELEASE: Attorney General Doug Chin supports protecting students and taxpayers against bad actors in for-profit education

Posted on Feb 24, 2017 in Latest Department News, Main

HONOLULU – Attorney General Doug Chin has joined 17 other state attorneys general and Hawaii Office of Consumer Protection Executive Director, Steve Levins, in support of recent federal protections for students and taxpayers in higher education.

In a February 22, 2017 letter sent to Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, Speaker Paul Ryan, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the attorneys general write that they are “deeply concerned that rollbacks of these protections would again signal ‘open season’ on students for the worst actors among for-profit post-secondary schools.”

A copy of the letter is attached.
