HONOLULU – The High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC) is inviting companies looking for talented kamaaina to make use of their technology skills at a higher-than-average paying job in their home state to participate in its16th annual Holiday Science & Tech Job Fair.

The event will feature exhibitors from the tech, software, web and medical industries, and is an opportunity for Hawaii job seekers to network with high-growth companies and innovative startups. The job fair runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at the Japanese Cultural Center’s Manoa Grand Ballroom. A networking reception follows from 6 to 8 p.m., which provides an opportunity for participants to meet others in the tech community.

“The Holiday Science & Tech Job Fair is designed to showcase all the promising opportunities that exist here in the local tech sector. The technology companies have openings and are looking to hire local talent,” said Luis Salaveria, director of the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, which oversees HTDC and promotes the innovation sector job growth. “This is a prime time event for kamaaina who are home for the holidays and students looking for exciting new jobs in Hawaii.”

The free fair is open to the public and includes resume evaluations, as well as human resource presentations.

“The fair is another way to improve our economy and get us a step closer to our  ambitious goal of creating 80,000 new tech and innovation jobs paying $80,000 or more by 2030,” said Robbie Melton, executive director and CEO at HTDC. “To accomplish the 80/80 plan, Hawaii needs to focus on more competitive research and development jobs that utilize a higher skill set.”
