DLNR NEWS RELEASE: PUBLIC HEARINGS SET ON PROPOSED CHANGES TO THRILL CRAFT ZONES IN KEEHI LAGOON

HONOLULU – The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), will hold public hearings on proposed amendments to revise thrill craft zones and restrictions within Keehi Lagoon, Oahu.

The proposed amendment to Title 13, Chapter 256, Section 93 and repeal of Title 13, Chapter 256, Sections 94 – 97, Hawaii Administrative Rules would relocate a recreational thrill craft zone within Keehi Lagoon and update the exhibit map depicting Keehi Lagoon use zones.

The meeting will be held at the UH Marine Education and Training Center, 10 Sand Island Parkway, Honolulu Hawaii 96819, on August 20, 2015, from 6 to approximately 8 pm.

All interested parties are invited to attend and to present their views on the proposed amendment, either orally or in writing.

Written comments may be submitted at the public hearing, or via email to [email protected], or hard copy to the DLNR Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation, 333 Queen St., Suite 300, Honolulu, HI 96813.

Testimony will be accepted the day of the hearing and up to one week following the hearing date.

The rule amendment can be reviewed online at https://ltgov.hawaii.gov/the-office/administrative-rules/ or https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dobor/draft-rules/ or can be reviewed in person at any State small boat harbor office from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, except on holidays.
