HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises motorists the H-3 Freeway will be closed in the Kaneohe-bound direction Wednesday, Aug. 19. Special duty police officers will block all on-ramps to the H-3 from 4:00 am – 3:00 pm. Halawa-bound traffic will remain open.

People seeking access to Windward Oahu can use the Likelike Highway or Pali Highway.

The Freeway will be used as part of a television production. All police officers, enforcement, signs and expenses will be paid by the production company. In addition to the equipment on the freeway, a helicopter will be used to film some of the scenes.

Motorists are prohibited from stopping on the Halawa-bound side of the freeway to watch the production. The shoulder is only to be used for emergency purposes. Authorities will monitor the area to make sure drivers maintain a safe and legal speed.

Police, fire and ambulance vehicles on an emergency call will have access to the freeway during the closure.
