DPS NEWS RELEASE: UPDATE: Missing extended furlough inmate captured in Kona by State Sheriffs

HONOLULU – At approximately 1 p.m. Deputy Sheriffs located and arrested missing extended furlough inmate Dyson Kepano in the Kona area.  He is being transported to the Hawaii Community Correctional Center.

Kepano is serving time for Burglary, Theft and Forgery.  Escape 2 is expected to be added to his charges. His next parole hearing was scheduled for August.

Extended furlough inmate Donald Soares is still missing.

Dyson Kepano and Donald Soares failed to report to a Kona extended furlough house for their scheduled check-in Thursday evening.

Inmates in the extended furlough program live and work outside of the facility but must check in at various times throughout the month.

28-year old Soares is classified as community custody. He is 5’9” and weighs 135 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Soares is serving time for burglary and theft.  Escape 2 is expected to be added to his charges. His next parole hearing was scheduled for November.

Anyone who sees Soares is urged to call 911.
