Governor David Ige to Attend National Governors Association 2015 Winter Meeting

HONOLULU – Today Governor David Ige will be arriving in Washington, DC for the winter meeting of the National Governors Association (NGA).

Governors at the meeting are expected to focus on collaboration to solve national issues. Governor Ige serves on the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee and will be participating in a panel discussion on Sunday. The governors will also meet with President Obama at the White House.

In addition to the NGA meetings, Governor Ige will be meeting with federal transportation, health, and housing administration officials to maximize Hawaii’s share of federal dollars. Elizabeth Kim, whom he has appointed to serve as a Special Advisor, will attend these meetings with him. Governor Ige will also be meeting with Army officials to reiterate his commitment to strengthening the State’s relationship with the military.

Lieutenant Governor Shan Tsutsui will be Acting Governor until Governor Ige’s return the evening of February 25.
