GOVERNOR’S OFFICE FLAG ORDER: Flags to fly at half-staff in honor of those who died in September 11th attacks

HONOLULU — At the direction of the President of the United States, the United States flag and the Hawai‘i state flag will be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and upon all state offices and agencies as well as the Hawai‘i National Guard in the State of Hawai‘i on Sunday, Sept. 11, until sunset. This action is a mark of respect and remembrance in honor of the individuals who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
President Barack Obama has proclaimed Sept. 11, 2016 as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. He is calling upon the people of the United States to participate in community service in honor of those lost, to observe this day with remembrance ceremonies and services, including a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
“Hawai‘i joins President Obama and the nation in remembering and honoring the nearly 3,000 innocent victims who perished in the terrorist attacks 15 years ago. Let us never forget the bravery, sacrifices and heroism of first responders and countless others on that fateful day,” said Gov. David Ige.
