Inmate and Staff Testing Continues

The Halawa Correctional Facility (HCF) reported 90 more inmate test results as part of surge testing efforts. Of that total, 37 were positive and 52 were negative. An additional 51 inmates have recovered, increasing the total recoveries to 226 and bringing active positive inmate cases down to 227. There are eight (8) inmates hospitalized. There were also five (5) new positive staff cases reported and three (3) staff cleared to return to work. Surge testing, with the assistance of DOH, the Hawai‘i National Guard and Project Vision Hawai‘i, will continue at HCF until there are no new positive cases at the facility.

All other facilities that experienced outbreaks have brought their COVID-19 count under control. The O‘ahu Community Correctional Center reports one (1) positive inmate at the facility. The Waiawa Correctional Facility (WCF) has zero active positive inmate cases. The last two (2) positive inmates were medically cleared today. The (1) hospitalized inmate has recovered from COVID-19 but will remain at the hospital until medically cleared to return to the facility.
