HDOT NEWS RELEASE: Public Informational Meeting Scheduled Regarding Kahekili Highway Improvements

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) invites the general public and all interested parties to an informational meeting regarding proposed improvements to Kahekili Highway.  This HDOT Highways Division project is to provide environmental documentation for proposed improvements to Kahekili Highway as required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Hawai‘i Revised Statutes (HRS) Chapter 343, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and other state and federal requirements.

The primary purpose of this meeting is to provide information regarding the re-evaluation of the 1990 Final EIS, and to present possible alternatives for future improvements to Kahekili Highway from Ha‘ikû Road to Kamehameha Highway that will be analyzed in the environmental assessment for this project.

The meeting will include a short formal presentation at 7 p.m.  Interested persons are encouraged to arrive at the meeting by 6:30 p.m., prior to the formal presentation, to view the project displays and to provide comments to the project team.
