Posted on Sep 16, 2015 in Latest Department News, Newsroom, Office of the Governor Press Releases

HONOLULU — Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA), formerly known as State Civil Defense, has cancelled the previously scheduled test of the following sirens:

Thursday, September 17

  • Ala Wai Golf Course, Honolulu
  • Ala Wai Regional Park, Honolulu
  • Wailupe Beach Park, Aina Haina

Due to the Tsunami Watch currently in effect for the 8.3 moment magnitude earthquake generated off the coast of Central Chile earlier this afternoon, testing of these sirens in conjunction with the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management will be postponed to a later date and time.

Residents may call HI-EMA at (808) 733-4300 if they have any questions or concerns regarding modernization of the Statewide Outdoor Siren Warning System. Contact the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management at (808) 723-8960 to report routine siren operational issues.
