ATG NEWS RELEASE: Hawaii County resident indicted for child pornography
Posted on Sep 14, 2017 in Latest Department NewsHONOLULU – Attorney General Doug Chin announced today that Joshua Iwasaki has been indicted for two counts of promoting child abuse in the second degree and one count of promoting child abuse in the third degree for possessing videos of child sexual abuse on three separate digital media devices.
Attorney General Chin said of the indictment: “This is a heinous offense and we will continue to seek out and prosecute anyone engaging in this disgusting and destructive behavior.”
Iwasaki is accused of possessing at least thirty videos of children being sexually exploited, with at least one depicting children under the age of twelve. The investigation was conducted by the Hawaii Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in the Attorney General’s office in conjunction with Homeland Security Investigations and the Hawaii County Police Department.
Iwasaki is a 36-year old Honokaa resident with no prior convictions. A Hawaii Island grand jury indicted him for: two counts of promoting child abuse in the second degree, which is a class B felony, punishable by up to ten years in prison; and one count of promoting child abuse in the third degree, which is a class C felony, punishable by up to five years in prison. Bail is set at $12,000.00 and a bench warrant has been issued for Iwasaki’s arrest.
Iwasaki is presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty of the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
