ATG NEWS RELEASE: JUDGE DISMISSES INMATE LAWSUIT
Posted on Aug 14, 2017 in Latest Department NewsHONOLULU – Attorney General Doug Chin announced today that state circuit judge Rhonda A. Nishimura entered judgment in favor of the State of Hawaii in a lawsuit brought by a Halawa Correctional Facility inmate, alleging that the facility failed to make timely repairs and caused personal injury to the inmate. Trial had been scheduled for September 5, 2017, but this judgment ends the lawsuit.
Attorney General Chin said: “My office will vigorously defend the state public safety department against allegations lacking merit.”
The State was represented internally by Deputy Attorney General Kathy Higham.
