DBEDT NEWS RELEASE: DBEDT announces calendar of trade events

HONOLULU – The Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) announces its 2018 slate of Hawaii Pavilions at various trade shows in Japan and the mainland.

Last year, 128 companies participated at DBEDT Pavilions, and reported more than $18 million in sales and projected sales. These trade shows are supported, in part, by the U.S. Small Business Administration.  Interested companies should pre-register to be part of these highly effective trade shows with the best fit for made-in-Hawaii products and services.  Space is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Surf Expo

January 25 – 27, 2018 (Orlando, FL)

Surf Expo draws buyers from specialty stores across the U.S., the Caribbean, Central and South America and around the world. The show features more than 2,500 booths of apparel and hard goods and a full line-up of special events, including fashion shows, annual awards ceremonies, and demos.  Average buyer and exhibitor turnout exceeds 28,600 attendees including retailers, exhibitors and the media.

Bio International Convention

June 4 – 7, 2018 (Boston, MA)

The BIO International Convention brings together the most innovative thinkers and leaders in biotechnology.  The education program covers a wide variety of diverse and timely topics relevant to the biotechnology industry and appropriate for many professional disciplines, including:  healthcare, intellectual property, environmental issues, business development, digital health, and more.

Hankyu Hawaii Fair

July 4 – 10, 2018 (Osaka, Japan)

The Hankyu Hawaii Fair, produced by Hankyu Hanshin Department Stores, is the world’s largest annual Hawaii-themed event outside of Hawaii.  Held at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store, this week-long event showcases more than 70 Hawaii companies offering direct to consumers, Hawaii apparel and accessories, jewelry, skin care products, food, drinks and dessert.  Hawaiian music, hula performances, and other talk shows also help to attract over 250,000 consumers throughout the event.

Outdoor Retailer Summer Market

July 23 – 26, 2018 (Denver, CO)

Outdoor Retailer is the nation’s largest trade show in the outdoor industry drawing more than 29,000 attendees from around the world.  The event brings together retailers, reps, experts and media to search for the newest trends and the most innovative products that will push the boundaries of the outdoor industry.

Tokyo International Gift Show

Sept 4 -7, 2018 (Tokyo, Japan)

TIGS is the largest international trade show in Japan with more than 4,100 exhibitors showcasing personal gifts, consumer goods and decorative accessories.  Show organizers anticipate more than 200,000 buyers, wholesalers and distributors to attend the three-day trade show.  Last year, 73 Hawaii companies were represented in the show.
