DCCA NEWS RELEASE: Self-Printing Service for Licensees available at MyPVL

Posted on Apr 25, 2019 in Latest Department News

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) Professional and Vocational Licensing Division (PVL) is announcing the launch of the online Self-Printing service at MyPVL (https://pvl.ehawaii.gov/mypvl).

Effective April 18, 2019, License Pocket ID cards and Wall Certificates are now available for immediate download and printing at no cost to licensees.  The updated pocket ID card provides additional consumer protection with a QR code design imprint, in which consumers can scan to verify the licensee’s current status through the linked PVL public search service.

“We are always seeking to expand access and service to our consumers and licensees,” said Charlene Tamanaha, Licensing Administrator for PVL. “It is our goal to continue to provide better service and streamline the licensing process to support Hawaii’s 150,000 licensed individuals and entities.”

PVL licenses 51 different professions and vocations, with 20,000 new applicants and 60,000 plus license renewals, plus thousands of address or name changes annually.  Each transaction would either result to printing and mailing of a wall certificate and/or a pocket ID card.  Over 100,00 pocket ID cards were printed and mailed by PVL annually.  In an effort to achieving the State’s paperless initiative and reducing costs, PVL has discontinued the printing and mailing of these documents.

The MyPVL service enables 24/7 access to information and services from a single dashboard for all PVL licensees.
