DLNR Media Advisory-Citizen Foresters Completing Mapping and Surveys of 4,000 Trees in Kailua

On Wednesday the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife’s (DOFAW) Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program reaches a major milestone. For the last two years a group of volunteers in Kailua have been measuring and mapping more than 4,000 trees and their data provides valuable information about urban trees to help resource experts better manage these important community assets. To recognize this first team of Citizen Foresters, DLNR will present them with a DLNR & YOU Citizen Conservationist award.

What:
Photo/video opportunity and news conference/award presentation

When:
Wednesday, July 11, 2018
(9 a.m. – 11 a.m.-Citizen Foresters at work)
(11 a.m.- news conference)

Where:
Kaimalino, intersection of Kaimalino St. and Milokai Street. There should be plenty of parking in the area.

Who:

• Tom Foye, Team Leader, Kailua Citizen Foresters

Why:
Between 9 and 11, media can photograph/video Citizen Foresters measuring and collecting data on their remaining trees in Kailua. Video and photographs will be available after the media opportunity and news conference.
