DLNR NEWS RELEASE: Boat ramp closes June 13- July 1 at Wahiawa Freshwater State Recreation area for accessibility renovations

Posted on Jun 13, 2016 in Latest Department News

WAHIAWA, OAHU – The Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) Division of State Parks will completely close the boat ramp and parking area at the Wahiawa Freshwater State Recreation Area, on Walker Avenue, from June 13 through July 1, 2016 and reopen on July 2, 2016.

Other areas of the park, including the park entrance, will remain open during this time.

The closure is necessary to ensure public safety while the entire boat ramp parking area will be renovated to include repaving, restriping, new parking stalls and walkways compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.  Barricades will be in place on the roadway to the boat ramp to secure this park section.

“We appreciate everyone’s understanding for the inconveniences that will occur during this period. We ask park users and boaters to use caution and good judgment when visiting and recreating at the park while construction work is occurring,”   said Curt Cottrell, State Parks administrator.
