October 22 at Camp Naue in Hā‘ena

HA‘ENA, KAUA‘I — Want to better understand the Hā‘ena Community-Based Subsistence Fishery Area (CBSFA) and rules, and how Department of Land and Natural Resources and Hui Maka‘āinana o Makana are working towards co-management?  Come down and join us for a fun-filled afternoon on Sunday, October 22 from 12 to 3 p.m. at Camp Naue YMCA, 7420 Kūhiō Highway in Hā‘ena.

Learn about the Hā‘ena CBSFA, what type of marine monitoring is taking place, about our programs and how to get more involved.  Enjoy fun activities for the whole ‘ohana: try a limu press, learn how to throw net, make our own coral clay models, join the imu kai workshop, see informational booths and more.

Following a welcoming protocol at noon, introductions and light pupu will be served from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Presentations will follow from 1 to 2 p.m. by Hui Maka‘ainana o Makana, and DLNR Divisions of Aquatic Resources (DAR), and Shae Kamaka‘ala, new DAR CBFSA coordinator.  Then from 2 to 3 p.m. enjoy ‘awa, talk story and socialize.
