CONSERVATION OFFICERS HONORED FOR SAVING MAN’S LIFE

(Honolulu) – On Friday, four officers with the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement (DOCARE) were recognized for their efforts to revive an unconscious, lifeless man at Keehi Small Boat Harbor on O‘ahu in July.

Acting DOCARE Enforcement Chief Jason Redulla presented the four officers with certificates during ceremonies at the conclusion of the first graduation for officers who’d trained at the new DOCARE Law Enforcement Academy (see related attached release).

In honoring the officer’s efforts, Redulla said, “Officers from the DOCARE Marine Patrol Unit had just returned to the harbor from sea patrol and were alarmed by a woman’s screams.  They found a man who was unconscious, not breathing, and appeared to be lifeless.  They immediately began performing CPR on the man and by the time emergency services workers arrived on the scene the man’s pulse had been revived.  They were credited by EMS for saving his life.”

Redulla said life-saving is the highest of traditions in the law enforcement profession and it exemplifies protecting the public.  The officers honored were Jason Lee, Woodley Harrington, Patrick Chong-Tim and Vance Lime.
