DLNR NEWS RELEASE: Kamananui Valley Road in Moanalua to close in July for maintenance

Posted on Jul 1, 2016 in Latest Department News

HONOLULU —  The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife will close the Kamananui valley road (trail) in Moanalua for the month of July from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, starting from Tuesday, July 5 to Friday July 29, 2016.

The weekday road closure is necessary for public safety due to presence of heavy equipment doing maintenance on the mountainous, four mile unimproved dirt road through the lush forest of Kamananui Valley.

Trail closure signs will be posted and a trails specialist will initially be at the trailhead to inform arriving hikers.   The trail will be open on weekends and State Holidays.  The trail will also be open on weekdays from 2 p.m. until sundown.

Notice is also being posted on the DOFAW Na Ala Hele Trails and Access Program website, www.hawaiitrails.org.
