DLNR NEWS RELEASE: Repairs to begin to loading dock at Heeeia-Kea boat ramp next week

Posted on Jul 15, 2016 in Latest Department News

Loading dock will be temporarily closed

HONOLULU —  Starting next Monday, July 18, 2016, construction will begin to repair the old and damaged loading dock on the south side of Heeia-Kea Small Boat Harbor boat launch ramp. The project will include replacement of structural members beneath the deck, installation of new fendering, and new cleats.  Project contractor is Ke Nui Construction, LLC, and cost is $68,750.

The loading dock will be closed throughout the duration of the project, which should be completed by August 5, 2016. The contractor will also use the loading area immediately adjacent to the loading dock as a staging area.

Boaters will need to use the launch ramp piers, as well as the main dock near the harbor office, as staging areas to load their passengers.

The harbor’s south side ramp is still operational.  Access to the boat launch ramp will not be obstructed.
