IN HONOR OF THE 2016 GREAT AMERICAN SMOKEOUT HAWAII CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF BEING “SMOKE-FREE” WITH PREMIERE OF SPECIAL DOCUMENTARY AND NEW STRATEGIC PLAN

Event: The Hawaii Department of Health, tobacco prevention advocates, and policymakers from across the state will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Hawaii’s landmark 2006 Clean Indoor Air Act which expanded smoke-free prohibitions in enclosed and partially enclosed areas statewide. The event will commemorate the past 10 years of the state’s accomplishments in tobacco prevention with a screening of an exclusive locally-produced documentary highlighting Hawaii’s successes over the last decade, and a new strategic plan for addressing current tobacco use in Hawaii will be unveiled.

The celebration also commemorates the 41st annual Great American Smokeout. A national event that encourages smokers to make a plan to quit or to plan in advance and quit smoking on that day.
