DOT News Release: Hana Highway to Close at Night Between Huelo and Hana Town Beginning January 28
Posted on Jan 17, 2020 in Latest Department NewsKAHULUI – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Maui motorists of nightly closures of Hana Highway (Route 360) between Huelo and Hana Town at Mile Markers 8.1 – 8.2 beginning Tuesday, January 28, 2020.
All lanes and all directions of Hana Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. between Tuesday evening, January 28 and Friday morning, January 31. No closure is scheduled for Friday night. The night work will involve drilling and soil nail installation to stabilize the existing slope face of Hana Highway. The full road closure allows for the drilling work, as the excavator needs to be placed in both lanes, and the job to be completed more quickly.
Emergency vehicles and first responders have been notified and will be allowed passage through the closure. All roadwork is weather permitting. Should the scheduled work be canceled or modified, notice will be posted via HDOT’s social media accounts and website.
HDOT thanks the traveling public for their patience and recommends motorists plan ahead on the scheduled work nights.
