DOT News Release: OAHU LANE CLOSURES FOR THE WEEKEND OF DECEMBER 27 – 29

HDOT’s Holiday Lane Closure Restriction is in place through Thursday, Jan. 2. Shoulder closures, work within HART jurisdiction, and other closures needed for operational safety are permitted to occur during this time. The special use lanes will not be operational on Wednesday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day. A list of the special use lanes can be found here.

— H-1 FREEWAY — 

1) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour closure of sections of the right shoulder on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound between the vicinity of the 2nd Avenue Pedestrian Overpass and the vicinity of 11th Avenue continues Friday, Dec. 27, through Saturday, Jan. 4, for guardrail and shoulder improvements. The speed limit in this area is reduced to 40 mph during closure hours.

2) HONOLULU (24-HOUR WORK)

24-hour closure of sections of the right shoulder on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound between the vicinity of 9th Avenue and the vicinity of 3rd Avenue continues Friday, Dec. 27, through Saturday, Jan. 4, for guardrail and shoulder improvements. The speed limit in this area is reduced to 40 mph during closure hours.

 

— FARRINGTON HIGHWAY (ROUTE 7101) —

1) WAIPAHU TO PEARL CITY (HART JURISDICTION)

— KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 99) —

1) HALAWA TO PEARL CITY (HART JURISDICTION)

Kamehameha Highway (Route 99) between Aloha Stadium and the vicinity of Sam’s Club by Acacia Road is City Maintained State Highway.

Eastbound motorists may be detoured to Kuala Street 24 hours a day, seven days a week between Waihona Street and Kuala Street.

The right lane on westbound Kamehameha Highway between Lipoa Place and Pali Momi Street is closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Up to two lanes closed on Nimitz Highway (Route 92) in both directions in the vicinity of Valkenburgh Street starting at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29 and ending at 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30 for rail work.
