DOTAX PRESS RELEASE: Registration Open for Statewide Tax Workshops in August – Tax Director Rona Suzuki to Address Participants

Posted on Aug 1, 2019 in Latest Department News

HONOLULU — The Department of Taxation (Department) announced that registration is still open for its 2019 Tax Workshops to be held across the State this August.

The Tax Workshops allows tax professionals to learn more about the Department and three (3) Hawaii Board of Public Accountancy Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits for Certified Public Accountants at an affordable price.

Recently appointed Director of Taxation, Rona M. Suzuki, will give opening remarks at the Tax Workshops. Additionally, speakers from the Department of Taxation will present topics including: an update on administrative rules, tax law changes that occurred during the 2019 legislative session, and a special presentation on the Department’s revenue protection measures. The Internal Revenue Service’s Local Taxpayer Advocate will also be participating as a guest speaker and presenting on federal tax topics.

“I am excited to meet the tax community at the Department’s annual workshops,” said Rona M. Suzuki, Director of Taxation. “The tax workshops provide a valuable opportunity for the community to engage with the Department and learn about upcoming initiatives and changes that affect their industry.”

All workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with sign-in beginning at 8:00 a.m. The fee is $90 for individuals who submit their registration and payment by the registration deadline. Late registrations are $110 per person. Walk-in registrations will be accepted at the door. The fee includes a continental breakfast, workshop materials, and three (3) CPE credit hours for the Hawaii Board of Public Accountancy. Workshop materials may be separately purchased for $25 per set.

Workshops are held in partnership with the continuing education programs at Leeward Community College, Hawaii Community College, Kauai Community College, and Maui College.

Online registration may be completed through each of the community college’s websites or by mail. For more information and to view the registration form, please go to the Department of Taxation’s website at https://tax.hawaii.gov/geninfo/a2_b2_5workshop/.
