HONOLULU — The State of Hawaii Transformation Internship Program (TIP) concluded its summer 2016 session on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, with the interns and state employees from the Office of Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) coming together to acknowledge this year’s accomplishments.

Completing its eight-week run from June 20 to Aug. 12, the summer session included 13 interns who worked alongside state innovators and gained hands-on experience in a wide range of areas. Participating interns included students from Hawaii Pacific University, Kapiolani Community College, Reed College, and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

In addition to working collaboratively to advance transformation initiatives, this session’s interns had the unique opportunity to assist in the planning of the upcoming Hawaii Annual Code Challenge (HACC), which will kick off on Aug. 27 at Aloha Tower Marketplace. The first-of-its-kind event is being hosted by Gov. David Y. Ige and ETS to engage the local tech community in the modernization of Hawaii state government. The award-winning TIP program was launched in 2013 to provide the framework for students to earn academic credit while collaborating with state personnel to advance transformation initiatives, including organizational change management, business process re-engineering and/or information technology systems and solutions. Through TIP, students receive meaningful work assignments by applying information technology classroom concepts to project assignments and are exposed to public service careers. Many participants also develop a network of professional contacts for the future.

Dates and how to apply for the next TIP session will be announced shortly. For more information, visit:
