Governor’s office – News Release – Governor Ige extends emergency declaration for the Pali Highway

Posted on Apr 23, 2019 in Latest Department News, Office of the Governor Press Releases

HONOLULU – Gov. David Ige issued a second supplementary emergency proclamation that extends the disaster emergency relief period for the Pali Highway.

Heavy rains in February caused extensive damage to the slopes and other areas adjacent to the Pali Highway. The conditions giving rise to the emergency continue, and this second supplemental emergency proclamation extends the provisions of the Proclamation of February 21, 2019 until June 22, 2019.

The governor signed the initial emergency proclamation for flood damage along the Pali Highway on Feb. 21, 2019. Gov. Ige signed a supplementary proclamation on Feb. 25, which extended the Feb. 21 proclamation to include flood damage along Honoapiʻilani Highway on Maui. The second supplemental emergency proclamation signed today does not extend the proclamation with respect to Honoapiʻilani Highway.
