HDOT NEWS RELEASE: Closure of Kamehameha Highway at Karsten Thot Bridge in Wahiawa on Thursday night, Dec.29

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) alerts the public that there will be a closure of Kamehameha Highway in both directions at the Karsten Thot Bridge, between Kilani Avenue and Kamananui Road, for bridge rehabilitation as part of the Repair and Repaint Karsten Thot Bridge project. Bridge rehabilitation work for this project will be completed by the end of 2016.

The closure will occur Thursday night, Dec. 29, through Friday morning, Dec. 30, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.  During the closure hours, traffic will be detoured around the work zone via Wilikina Drive and Kamananui Road.

In addition to the full bridge closure, there will also be a single lane closure on Kamehameha Highway between Kilani Avenue and Whitmore Avenue on Tuesday night, Dec. 27, and Wednesday night, Dec. 28, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning. The closure will alternate between the northbound and southbound lane. Traffic will be contaflowed in the open lane. Roadwork is weather permitting.
