HDOT NEWS RELEASE: Continuous weekend lane closure on Kamehameha Highway in Kahuku beginning Friday, Nov. 4

Posted on Nov 1, 2016 in Latest Department News

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists that there will be a lane closure on Kamehameha Highway approximately 900 feet east of Charlie Road in Kahuku. The lane will be closed continuously from Friday night, Nov. 4, 2016 at 6 p.m. through Monday morning, Nov. 7, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. The closed lane will alternate in both directions during this time.

During the closure hours, flaggers will contraflow traffic through the remaining open lane. The contraflow will be 100 feet in length. Crews will be pouring concrete for the construction of the roadway’s drainage system. A continuous closure is necessary for the concrete to cure properly.

Electronic message boards will be posted in the area to notify motorists of the closure. Roadwork is weather permitting.

HDOT advises motorists to plan ahead and allow extra travel time to reach their destinations. Lane closure information will be posted on the HDOT website at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/ Updates will also be released through our social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.
