HDOT NEWS RELEASE: Continuous weekend lane closures on the H-2 freeway scheduled to begin Friday, Sept. 16

Posted on Sep 15, 2016 in Latest Department News

UPDATE: Continuous weekend lane closures on H-2 rescheduled to Oct. 7-9, 2016 due to forecasted wet weather conditions

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) alerts the public that two left lanes will be closed on the northbound H-2 Freeway between the Ka Uka Boulevard Overpass and the Kipapa Bridge beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 continuously through 12 p.m. noon on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016 for roadway reconstruction.

Crews will be repairing damaged concrete pavement in the second lane from the left before the Kipapa Bridge. A continuous closure is necessary as the repairs include a concrete pour, and the lanes must remain closed as the concrete cures.

Electronic message boards will be placed in the area in advance of the weekend closure to alert drivers of the work. Motorists may use Kamehameha Highway as an alternate route to avoid the two closed lanes. All roadwork is weather permitting.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and drive with caution through the work zone. Lane closure information will be available on the HDOT website at https://hidot.hawaii.gov/highways/roadwork/. Updates are also released through our social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.
