HDOT News Release: Eastbound H-1 Freeway and Nimitz Highway closures scheduled for Middle Street Tunnel lighting work on Wednesday night, April 3

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists of lane closures on the H-1 Freeway and Nimitz Highway on Wednesday night, April 3, through Thursday morning, April 4, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for tunnel lighting work at the Middle Street Tunnel. See lane closure information below.

  • Closure of the eastbound H-1 Freeway between the Keehi Interchange and the Middle Street Tunnel. Motorists traveling on the H-1 Freeway may take the Middle Street/Dillingham Boulevard offramp (Exit 18B) or the Waikiki/Nimitz Highway offramp (Exit 18A) to reenter the H-1 Freeway at the Kalihi Street onramp.
  • The eastbound Nimitz Highway ramp to the H-1 Freeway will be closed. Motorists traveling on Nimitz Highway may take the ramp to Dillingham Boulevard or remain on Nimitz Highway to enter the H-1 Freeway at the Kalihi Street onramp.

Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations and to check traffic apps like GoAkamai for up-to-the-minute traffic information. All roadwork is weather permitting.
