HDOT News Release: HDOT crews respond to Zipper Lane roadway damage

Posted on Oct 15, 2018 in Latest Department News

Drivers may submit a claim for damage reimbursement

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) crews responded to the Zipper Lane following multiple reports of vehicles with damaged tires near the merge of the H-1 and H-2 Freeways today. A street sweeping vehicle cleaned the area of any possible debris. Highways crews filled the pothole and repaired the roadway surface in the Zipper Lane this morning.

The Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) helped nine motorists in the Zipper Lane during the morning commute, of which FSP drivers changed eight tires on the spot. One vehicle was safely towed off the freeway as the spare tire was not accessible. All available FSP services are free. Motorists in need of FSP assistance should call 808-841-HELP (4357). For more information regarding FSP click here.

Motorists experiencing damage to their vehicle may submit a claim with the Department of Accounting and General Services (DAGS) Risk Management office. A link to the claim form can be found by clicking here. Additional information can be found by clicking here.

The DAGS Risk Management office can be reached at (808) 586-0547 or e-mail [email protected]
