HDOT NEWS RELEASE: Likelike Highway nighttime closures on Monday, April 17 and Tuesday, April 18, for LED lighting installations in the Wilson Tunnel

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists of night closures on the Likelike Highway on Monday, April 17, 2017 and Tuesday, April 18, 2017, for LED lighting installations in the Wilson Tunnel. Lane closures are as follows:

  • Closure of Likelike Highway in the Kaneohe-bound direction between Valley View Drive and Kahekili Highway on Monday night, April 17, 2017, from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
  • Closure of Likelike Highway in the Honolulu-bound direction between Kahekili Highway and Valley View Drive on Tuesday night, April 18, 2017, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Electronic message boards have been posted throughout Likelike Highway to notify motorists of the closures. Special Duty Police Officers will be on site to assist with safety and traffic procedures. Emergency vehicles, first responders and TheBus have been notified of the roadwork and will be allowed through the work zone. Roadwork is weather permitting.

HDOT advises motorists to plan ahead and use alternate routes such as the H-3 Freeway, Pali Highway and Kalanianaole Highway to get to their destinations. HDOT thanks the public for their support as we work towards a sustainable and energy efficient future.
