HDOT News Release: Nighttime closure of Kuhio Highway (Route 560) at Waioli Bridge scheduled for December 11, 2018

HANALEI – The Hawaii Department of Transportation announces the planned closure of Kuhio Highway (Route 560) at the Waioli Stream Bridge between Anae Road and Kumu Road in Hanalei from 11 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 to 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018.

This closure is necessary to restore the deck of the Waioli Stream Bridge to its original surface prior to bridge rehabilitation.

First responders have been notified of the planned closure and will be escorted across the bridge if needed. All work is weather permitting.

The Waioli Stream Bridge was built in 1912 and is currently ranked as number 26 on HDOT’s priority list of bridges in need of upgrade or repair.
