HDOT NEWS RELEASE: Notice of public meeting scheduled for replacement of Wainiha temporary bridges

LIHUE – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration, Central Federal Lands Highway Division (FHWA-CFLHD) is proposing to replace three temporary bridges located on Kuhio Highway (Route 560) in Wainiha. A Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared for the project pursuant to the Hawaii EIS law (HRS Chapter 343) and HAR Title 11, (Chapter 200) as well as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The Draft EA was released for public review on April 23, 2016 and is available for download from the Office of Environmental Quality Control’s EA and EIS online library (https://oeqc.doh.hawaii.gov/default.aspx).

A meeting will be held to collect oral and written comments on the Draft EA and provide an opportunity to ask questions of agency representatives. The meeting is scheduled at the following location and time:
