HDOT NEWS RELEASE: Pali Highway closed nightly, one direction at a time for LED lighting installations

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu motorists of nightly closures on the Pali Highway, for LED lighting installations in the Pali Tunnels. Lane closures are as follows:

Honolulu-bound direction

  • Pali Highway will be closed in the Honolulu-bound direction between Kamehameha Highway and Waokanaka Street on Sunday night, July 30, 2017, through Wednesday morning, Aug. 2, 2017, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Kailua-bound direction

  • Pali Highway will be closed in the Kailua-bound direction between Waokanaka Street and Kamehameha Highway on Wednesday night, Aug. 2, 2017, through Friday morning, Aug. 4, 2017, and Sunday night, Aug. 6, 2017, from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Electronic message boards have been posted throughout the Pali Highway to notify motorists of the closures. Emergency vehicles, first responders and TheBus have been notified of the roadwork and will be allowed through the work zone. Roadwork is weather permitting.

HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time and use alternate routes such as Likelike Highway, H-3 Freeway and Kalanianaole Highway. Roadwork notifications will be posted on our HDOT website at hidot.hawaii.gov and on our social media websites, Facebook and Twitter.
