HDOT News Release: Pali Highway to open while Likelike Highway is closed for Hawaiian Electric repair work

Likelike Highway scheduled closure Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) and Hawaiian Electric alerts the public of emergency repair work on the Likelike Highway that will close all lanes in both directions on Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to remove damaged utility poles and equipment that crosses the highway.

During the Likelike Highway closure HDOT will temporarily open the Pali Highway to help alleviate congestion as follows:

The Honolulu bound direction contraflow, using the Kailua bound lanes, will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Kailua/Kaneohe bound direction lanes will be open for the public from 12:15 to 4 p.m.

The H-3 Freeway and Kalanianaole Highway are also viable alternatives to and from Windward Oahu. The public is urged to check traffic conditions using GoAkamai.org or any app of their choice before starting their trip.
