Posted on Jun 17, 2016 in Latest Department News

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) advises Oahu residents that Runway 8R-26L (Reef Runway) will be closed from 12:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. June 18, 2016.

The purpose of this closure is to allow Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam staff to perform maintenance work on safety systems used by military aircraft.

During this time an increase in noise activity over Downtown Honolulu may be observed. All work is weather permitting.

HDOT thanks the community for its cooperation as we work to maintain the safety of Honolulu International Airport’s runways.
