HDOT News Release: Three lane closures scheduled on the H-1 Freeway at the Gulick Avenue overpass

Posted on May 30, 2019 in Latest Department News

HONOLULU – The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) notifies motorists that over the next two weeks, three out of the four lanes on the H-1 Freeway will be closed nightly at the Gulick Avenue overpass, for bridge repairs. On Monday night, June 3, 2019, through Friday morning, June 7, 2019, three left lanes will be closed in the eastbound direction, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly.

The following week, three right lanes will be closed in the westbound direction on Monday night, June 10, 2019, through Friday morning, June 14, 2019, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly.

These closures are necessary for construction to safely repair the structure of the Gulick Avenue overpass as the result of the impact from the oversized vehicle. Additional closures may be necessary as roadwork is weather permitting.

HDOT advises motorists to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations. Motorists are advised to use traffic apps like GoAkamai to view up to the minute traffic conditions before getting on the road.
